Yeah, the world as we currently know it is ending per the last post I did, so, let's just have some Saturday afternoon music fun then. :)
Today's musical theme.......80s songs about futuristic robotics, transhumanism and dystopian technology. woohoo!
Interestingly enough........all of these songs were released in 1983. From vastly different artists. Coincidence? I think not. O.o It's not really a surprise or a stretch for Styx, but as far as Herbie Hancock and Neil Young go....... ?!? Hancock is a jazz artist who's played with the greats, and Neil Young was once part of Crosby, Stlils, Nash & Young. He almost got canned from his record label and sued for the stunt he pulled with his '83 album "Trans," because he secretly scrapped the entire intended album and changed it out to "Trans" at the last minute, when there was no time to re-record. The label was pissed, because it was nothing like anything he'd done before, using a vocoder and with modern, synth-based music.
Starting out with the best of all....... "Mr. Roboto" by Styx.

Domo arigato Mr. Roboto
Mata au hi made
Domo arigato Mr. Roboto
Himitsu wo shiritai
You're wondering who I am (secret secret I've got a secret)
Machine or mannequin (secret secret I've got a secret)
With parts made in Japan (secret secret I've got a secret)
I am the modern man
I've got a secret I've been hiding under my skin
My heart is human, my blood is boiling, my brain I.B.M.
So if you see me acting strangely, don't be surprised
I'm just a man who needed someone, and somewhere to hide
To keep me alive, just keep me alive
Somewhere to hide to keep me alive
I'm not a robot without emotions, I'm not what you see
I've come to help you with your problems, so we can be free
I'm not a hero, I'm not a savior, forget what you know
I'm just a man whose circumstances went beyond his control
Beyond my control, we all need control
I need control, we all need control
I am the modern man (secret secret I've got a secret)
Who hides behind a mask (secret secret I've got a secret)
So no one else can see (secret secret I've got a secret)
My true identity
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto, domo, domo
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto, domo, domo
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto
Thank you very much, Mr. Roboto
For doing the jobs nobody wants to
And thank you very much, Mr. Roboto
For helping me escape to where I needed to
Thank you, thank you, thank you
I want to thank you, please, thank you, oh yeah
The problem's plain to see, too much technology
Machines to save our lives, machines dehumanize
The time has come at last (secret secret I've got a secret)
To throw away this mask (secret secret I've got a secret)
Now everyone can see (secret secret I've got a secret)
My true identity
I'm Kilroy! Kilroy! Kilroy! Kilroy!"
"Machine or Mannequin?" Well funny he should ask....... Herbie Hancock believes in both.......

"Freakazoid," from Midnight Star. Love this one. Seems to be about a sex robot. 😆 More things that have come to pass by this point in time. O.o
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wJWuaPR0LoAnd leaving off with another great that I've posted back at the beginning of my Gab feed. "We R In Control" by Neil Young, from his album "Trans" as mentioned.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQfgnooX72gLove the album art on this one. The left side depicting a futuristic world complete with a grid sky, rocket ship, a digitized person hitch hiking to a future car, all heading towards us. The right depicting our old world, with a real Earth, pine trees, a real sky with birds, and a real dude hitchhiking to a 1950s classic auto, and all facing away/moving away from us. 😢
But "We R In Control" has definitely come to pass In light of Alexa. O.o
"We control the data banks
We control the think tanks
We control the flow of air
We're controlling traffic lights
We control computer flights
We control the chief of staff
We control the TV sky
We control the FBI
We control the flow of heat
Computer age
Down the precious metal lines in harm's way
We will prevail and perform our function
C-C-T-B
We're controlling
We control
We control
We're controlling
We're controlling
We control
We control you floor to floor
We control you door to door
We're controlling while you sleep
Computer age
Down the precious metal lines in harm's way
We will prevail and perform our function
C-C-T-B
Computer age in harm's way
We will prevail and perform our function
C-C-T-B
We are in control, we are in control, we are in control
We are in control, we are in control, we are in control
We are in control, we are in control, we are in control
We are in control, we are in control, we are in control
